I'm Akhil Gorantala. I build SnapFont on my own, and I build it in public, one post at a time, as my entry in the RevenueCat Shipaton 2026.
The idea came from an older app of mine that turned handwriting into a font by asking for a separate photo of every single letter, sixty photos and sometimes more. People kept finishing it, so I knew they wanted the result. I also knew the sixty photos were the part they would skip if they could. SnapFont is what happens when you take that seriously: one page, one photo, and the rest happens on its own.
How it works, in one paragraph
You print a sheet with 72 boxes, each with a faint letter in it to write over. You write, you take one photo with your phone, and a few minutes later your handwriting is a real font file. On iPhone it installs system-wide. On Android you export the file and use it in any app that takes custom fonts. You own every font you make.
Why there is a blog
Most of what I know about fonts, sheets, pens, and phone cameras I learned by getting it wrong first. The blog is where I write that down properly, so you don't have to repeat my mistakes, and where I compare SnapFont honestly with the other tools, including the ones that beat it at certain things.
