Your handwriting font in Canva

Canva accepts uploaded fonts through Brand Kit, which is part of Canva Pro, Teams, and Education plans. On the free plan you cannot upload a font, but you can add your handwriting as a transparent image.

With Canva Pro, Teams, or Education

  1. Export the TTF from SnapFont to your computer, or to Files on iPhone.
  2. In Canva: Brand, Brand Kit, Fonts, Upload a font.
  3. Choose the TTF. It appears under Brand fonts in any design's text panel.

On the free plan

  1. Type the text in Pages, Word, or Procreate with your font.
  2. Export a PNG with a transparent background (Procreate and Keynote can do this).
  3. Upload the PNG to Canva and place it like any image.

Good to know

  • Canva's font uploader wants TTF or OTF, and SnapFont exports TTF.
  • Uploaded fonts are available on Canva's iPhone and Android apps too, since they live in your account rather than on the device.

Questions people ask

Can I upload a font to Canva for free?
Not on the free plan. Font upload is a Brand Kit feature limited to Pro, Teams, and Education. Canva's Pro trial includes it.
Does Canva see fonts installed on my iPhone?
No. Canva only uses its own library plus fonts uploaded to your Brand Kit.
