Your handwriting font in GoodNotes

GoodNotes uses whatever fonts are installed on your iPad or iPhone. Install your SnapFont font once and it appears in the text tool's font menu, no import step inside GoodNotes.

On iPad or iPhone

  1. Make your font in SnapFont (print the sheet, write it, take one photo).
  2. Tap Install. SnapFont builds a font profile; save it to Files and open it.
  3. Settings, General, VPN and Device Management, tap the profile, Install.
  4. Open GoodNotes, pick the Text tool, tap the font name, and choose your font from the list.

On Mac

  1. Export the TTF from SnapFont and send it to your Mac.
  2. Double click the TTF and click Install in Font Book.
  3. Restart GoodNotes; the font appears in the text tool.

Good to know

  • The font applies to typed text boxes, titles, and templates. Your pen strokes stay pen strokes.
  • A document opened on a device without the font falls back to a default font. Export to PDF when sharing.

Questions people ask

Do I need iFont or another font app for GoodNotes?
Not with SnapFont. Those apps exist to wrap a TTF in an install profile; SnapFont makes the profile itself, so you only tap Install.
Will my handwriting font show up in GoodNotes templates?
Yes. Any text you type in GoodNotes can use it, including text on template pages and planner layouts you build yourself.
Does it work on GoodNotes for Windows or Android?
GoodNotes on Windows uses fonts installed in Windows, so install the TTF there. Android cannot install fonts system-wide, so typed text in GoodNotes for Android stays on the built-in fonts.
